The EDTC mission is to foster community economic development through programming to train entrepreneurs and professionals to build local small businesses in their own marginalized communities. Fulfilling on this mission therefore produces economic self-sufficiency for individuals and community "buy-in" for local small business owners as it simultaneously supports and stimulates small business growth and job creation.
In order to deliver on this mission, we execute the following goals:
1. To build successful small business enterprises that are self-sustaining, and are able to employ others, and build capacity without significant loans.
2. To train people in search of job to career pathways in the skills needed to support small business development, and provide technical services in their communities.
3. To support the initiatives of community–based organizations and institutions dedicated to economic development through workforce training and small business growth.
EDTC is delivering a vision of the world where marginalized communities learn and apply the tools to build economic self-sufficiency. As a result of our work these communities are no longer treated as victims that are dependent on the aid of others, but are self-reliant and able to support their families with dignity.
SmallBusinesses that we serve are able to more efficiently support their business owners, maintain management practices and procedures and exploit opportunities to scale.
